Oxford University has collaborated with nearby Blenheim Palace to the test the benefit of social prescriptions, a medical term that offers preventive remedies in the form of activity ranging from walking in nature to social interaction.
The coordinating body was Pitch-In, which is funded by the Research England.
During the experiment different groups were 'prescribed' non-medical 'prescriptions' that involved walking around Blenheim Palace and then having tea afterwards. The outcomes were very promising and pave the way towards a broader approach to human health that could avoid medical interventions further down the road.
A short film shows you what took place and why it worked.
